Mati Ventrillon's inspiration comes from the technique of creating patterns with multiple colours that was first used by the women of Fair Isle, one of the Shetland Islands, more than two centuries ago.Her designs, which have featured on the Chanel catwalk, are inspired by tradition but use her own modern interpretation of colour and pattern arrangement. The book includes fisherman jumpers with high, crew and slash necks, a poncho, neck warmer, cowl and long scarf, fingerless gloves and hand and wrist warmers, as well as the traditional fisherman's hats known as keps. The patterns demonstrate how to experiment with colour and play with backgrounds. They are accompanied by expert tips on yarns and finishing. Whether he is accidentally cooking his brain with hand warmers or yanking his lure away from a trophy fish just before it takes the bait, Bill Heavey can do no right. For almost a decade, he has chronicled his incompetence on the back page of Field & Stream, where his hilarious dispatches about life as a hapless outdoorsman who lives in suburbia have earned him legions of fans. But Heavey is more than a humorist. The stories in this book range from amusing tales of a modern dad struggling to navigate the finer points of parenting and married life to longer and more serious narratives that involve travel, adventure, and tragedy. No matter what he's writing about, Heavey is a master of blending humor and pathos - and wide-ranging outdoor enthusiasms - into a poignant and potent stew. 1. Language: English. Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. San Jiao is a term found in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), as part of modelling the workings of the human body attempted by early Chinese medical writers. References to it can be found in the oldest Chinese medical texts available, including the Yellow Emperor''s Huang Di Nei Jing. San Jiao has been translated as "triple heater," triple warmer (or three warmers)," and "triple burner," the latter of which is probably favored because of the involvement of the San Jiao in metabolism. The current WHO standard term is "Triple Energizer" (TE), but many authors still prefer to use San Jiao.

In this, our third knitting pattern book, we wanted to challenge ourselves and develop a wide variety of patterns to knit. The challenge — what can be made from a simple RECTANGLE? As it turns out, a lot! Wearable items (poncho, shrug, capelet, bolero), home items (blanket, pillow, towels, sitting pad) and accessories (pulse warmers, scarf, pareo) feature diverse knitting techniques and construction choices.

Lithophanes reveal their true magic when backlit by flickering light. Hung in windows as decoration or molded into lampshades, lamps, or veilleuses (food and beverage warmers), these three-dimensional images in translucent porcelain became increasingly popular in the mid-19th century. Their motifs, which included genre scenes, idyllic landscapes, tranquil urban scenes, and copies of paintings, provide an impressive depiction of the home life and milieu of the period’s emerging middle class. KH. W. Steckelings set out to produce a comprehensive guide to the history of lithophanes. His work covers not only porcelain objects but also special forms of lithophanes. A valuable fund of information for collectors and enthusiasts everywhere, Shining Stone explores this unique art form particularly in the context of the historical development of lithophane manufacturers from the 18th to the 20th century, the majority of which were located in Germany and France. The book also provides descriptions of individual pieces, with information on product origin, marks, and backstamps. Using a wealth of illustrations, the author draws interesting comparisons, sheds light on individual phases of development and interrelationships, and corrects the misinformation and errors that have been propagated over the years.
